About the event
Shravan Suthar is a dedicated professional contributing to wildlife conservation in India, particularly through his role at the Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF). His work centers on the Western Ghats – Deciduous Forests programme, where he applies his expertise in ecology and GIS techniques.
Shravan Suthar earned a Master's degree in Wildlife and Management from Kuvempu University in 2017. He began his tenure at NCF in August 2017, serving as a Senior Research Assistant, which highlights his commitment to long-term conservation efforts.
His research primarily focuses on the ecology of carnivores, especially leopards, and addresses human-wildlife conflict. He employs GIS techniques to enhance his studies, which are crucial for understanding wildlife dynamics in protected areas.
Shravan has made significant contributions to wildlife conservation, particularly through monitoring leopard populations in various sanctuaries and reserves in Karnataka, such as Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, and Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Tiger Reserve. His publications, which focus on leopard density estimation and abundance using camera trapping, underscore his impact on the field.
